Warrant Law for Kapolei Cases

Kapolei warrant records follow the rules in Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 803. Section 803-1 defines an arrest warrant as a written order from a judge to bring a named subject before the court. Section 803-31 sets the content rules for a search warrant. Section 803-36 requires service within 10 days of the issue date. Section 803-33.5 covers electronic warrants, which the First Circuit now uses for arrest, search, and JDPC warrants.

Under HRS Chapter 92F, the Uniform Information Practices Act, an arrest record that led to a conviction is a public record. An arrest record that did not end in a conviction is kept private and is not shown on a standard name check. This rule matters for anyone pulling a Kapolei warrant record, since non-conviction data is barred from most public reports.

HPD policy lays out when and how officers may serve a warrant. Warrants shall not be served between 2200 and 0700 hours on closed premises unless there is legal cause. A warrant must be confirmed through the HPD Communications Division before an arrest is made. See the HPD warrants policy page for more.

CrimeStoppers and Wanted Persons in Kapolei

CrimeStoppers Honolulu takes tips on wanted subjects and open cases in Kapolei and the rest of Oahu. The tip line is (808) 955-8300. Tips may also be sent by text with the keyword CRIME from a Hawaii cell phone. All tips stay private. A cash reward may be paid if the tip leads to an arrest or a filed charge. See the HPD wanted persons page for current names and photos from Kapolei and other parts of the island.

If you spot a person from the wanted list, do not try to detain them. Call 911 or the CrimeStoppers tip line. All wanted subjects should be treated as armed and dangerous. HPD has trained units that handle high risk takedowns. A member of the public should only share info, not act on it.

Note: A Hawaii police officer will never ask a Kapolei resident to send money by gift card or wire to clear a warrant. These calls are scams.
